#aprilisforarabfood and growing up my parents would make baklava all the time! It was always a treat and these baklava roses are my take on the classic araby baklava which had my house smelling amazing 🥰 Try it out and let me know what you think!
Start by preheating the oven to 400 F. Butter a 8 inch round cake pan, set aside.
Cut phyllo dough in half and save the rest for another recipe if you like. Take that half and cut it in half again. You want the width to be about 2-3 inches.
Start by buttering 1 sheet of phyllo. Add a second sheet on top and butter. Add the chopped pistachios to the middle of the sheet. Fold each side and butter each fold as you go.
Scrunch up the phyllo like i do in the video then start twisting it into a rose shape.
*It’s very important that your phyllo doesn’t dry out and is buttered nicely. This will prevent your rose from cracking. If you have a few cracks don’t worry it’ll be fine but make sure to keep your phyllo covered while you work with it to avoid drying out. *
Place each rose into buttered cake pan then bake for about 20-30 minutes until golden.
Remove from the oven and immediately add sugar syrup and decorate with finely chopped pistachios. Enjoy with a cup of tea and loved ones. I hope you try!
